Join the Rev. Dr. Julie Faith Parker, assistant professor of Old Testament at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, as she helps us explore stories of the Bible's women and girls through drama, poetry, music and art.
The Rev. Dr. Julie faith parker
Parker is the Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. She was awarded the Ph.D. with distinction in Old Testament/ Hebrew Bible at Yale University. Dr. Parker is the author of numerous articles and five books, most recently Valuable and Vulnerable, published by Brown University in 2013. (Her edited collection, My So-Called Biblical Life, will be available by summer 2017.) Dr. Parker received her B.A. from Hamilton College (Clinton, N.Y.), where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to earn her Masters of Divinity degree at Union Theological Seminary in New York, where she received awards for both preaching and theology. She also has a Sacred Theology Masters from Yale Divinity School, as well as a Master of Religion and a Master of Philosophy degree from Yale University. She has studied eleven languages, and is competent in Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, French, German, and Spanish. An ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, she has worked full time as a congregational minister and served for eight years as the Protestant Chaplain at Hofstra University on Long Island. Prior to her current position at Trinity, she taught at Colby College (Waterville, Maine), Fordham University (Bronx, N.Y.), Yale University (New Haven, Conn.), and New York Theological Seminary (New York City), where she taught inmates at Sing Sing prison.
